The DesignWare® ARC® EM Starter Kit (EMSK) is a low-cost, versatile solution enabling rapid software development, software debugging, and profiling for the ARC EM Family of processors, including the EM4, EM6, EM5D, EM7D, EM9D and EM11D cores. The ARC EMSK consists of a hardware platform, including pre-installed FPGA images of different ARC EM processor configurations with peripherals.
The Pmod RF2 adds RF communication through the Microchip® MRF24J40 IEEE 802.15.4™ 2.4GHz RF transceiver module. The 2x6 connector J6 on the ARC EMSK are used to connect Pmod RF2 in the example.
The platform does not currently feature a True Random Number Generator (TRNG), which is required for certification to the Thread Specification. Users looking to certify the OpenThread implementation for their own ARC-based platforms need to add a TRNG to their platform and modify our reference implementation based on EMSK accordingly in order to achieve certification for their platform.
